Whether it’s been 2 years…or 26…the sexual spark sometimes fades in a relationship.
Here are a few ideas to bring it roaring back! Each of us deals with fluctuations in hormones and other biological processes that have an effect on our libidos as we age. Also, after so much time together, it’s normal to develop some routines and automatically know our partner’s preferences. These routines can end up making sex together somewhat predictable… And predictability can definitely dim the spark. But fear not, there are many ways to add spark to a relationship. Here are a few of my more conventional ideas. But don't run off. We're going to really heat things up before we're done.
Try new things together: This could be anything from a new hobby or activity to trying out a new restaurant or going on a trip to a place you've never been. This can help bring excitement and novelty into your relationship.
Get physical: Physical intimacy is an important part of many relationships. Try adding some variety to your physical routine by trying new positions, locations, or activities.
Communicate openly and honestly: Good communication is essential for any relationship. Make an effort to be open and honest with your partner about your needs and desires, and be willing to listen to their wants and needs as well.
Surprise each other: Surprises can be a fun and exciting way to add some spice to your relationship. This could be as simple as leaving little notes or gifts for your partner, or planning a special date or outing.
Make an effort to show your appreciation: It's important to regularly show your partner that you appreciate them. This can be through small gestures like telling them how much you appreciate them or writing them a love letter, or through more elaborate acts like planning a special date or surprise.
Spend quality time together: Make an effort to set aside time for just the two of you, whether it's a regular weekly date night or a special outing. This can help strengthen your bond and bring you closer together.
Be adventurous: Try doing something that pushes both of you out of your comfort zones. This could be something like bungee jumping, skydiving, or even just trying a new restaurant that serves exotic cuisine.
Make an effort to keep the romance alive: It's easy for the romance to fade in a long-term relationship, so make an effort to keep it alive. This could be through regular date nights, surprise romantic gestures, or simply making time for each other.
Take a break from technology: With the constant distractions of phones and social media, it can be hard to truly connect with your partner. Make an effort to put your devices away and focus on each other when you're together
Remember, it's important to put effort into maintaining the spark in any relationship. It's normal for the initial excitement of a new relationship to fade over time, but that doesn't mean the love and connection has to disappear. By actively working to keep the spark alive, you can continue to strengthen your bond and deepen your connection with your partner.
