Mysteries Of The Heart

Old School Beliefs:

There is no scientific evidence to suggest that a heart transplant would have any effect on a person's desires, taste, or personality. The heart is a vital organ that is responsible for pumping blood and oxygen throughout the body, but it does not have any direct role in a person's thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. While it is possible that the experience of undergoing a major surgery and receiving a new organ might affect a person emotionally or psychologically, there is no reason to believe that it would change their fundamental desires, tastes, or personality traits.

It started out with stories that many doctors and institutions brushed off as a form or trauma. However after decades and thousands of repeated incidences, the probability could no longer be ignored. Doctors now are excepting the fact that yes, there is much more to the heart than just sustaining life. According to Paul Pearsall "recipients experienced profound changes in their lifestyles: “changes in food, music, art, sexual, recreational, and career preferences, as well as specific instances of perceptions of names and sensory experiences related to the donors.”

Here's just a few examples.

  1. Jamie Sherman: Woke up after surgery with strong anger issues. Only to learn that her donor died in a bar fight

  2. Michael Hagan: Soon after his surgery he found himself crying during movies and craving avocados. His donor? Shamika Jones, a 21-year-old mother who was very emotional and of course craved avocados

  3. William Sheridan in 2006 took up an interest in drawing after receiving the heart of an up coming artist 24 year old Keith Neville.

  4. Claire Sylvia, 47 suddenly developed a taste for beer and chicken nuggets after her surgery. Only to learn that her donor Timothy Lamirande passed in a motorcycle accident on his way home from McDonald. In his pocket they some McNuggets.

It's stories like these that prompted doctors to push forward in their research. Through the studies of Dr Amore and others We have since learned there is much more to the heart than first thought. More recent studies have found that there is a group of cells "approximately 40,000" in the heart that are the same as the neurons in the brain. This give the heart the ability to act independently of the brain but also to store it's own memories As exciting as these findings are. They do pose another situation.

Now that more is being learned of the heart and it's abilities to carry memories and traits with it. People are becoming extremely concerned about how it will effect their "new" lives. It's not just a matter of a few cravings as first thought. But what about the change in ones personality or even disorders. If they've take on new taste, likes and desires, will they still love their current spouse, siblings, friends? Or will they carry the love and emotions of the donor. On one hand this is a concern for many, but yet again, when it's life or death, somethings just must be excepted.

In closing here is some music and soothing sounds to help put your mind and heart at ease.

The sounds of soft rain, or waves crashing on the beach. Maybe some Beethoven or meditation sounds with binaural beets. Either way we think you'll enjoy it.
